attn. Twilight fans!

not a big secret that i think both the books and the movie are not only train wrecks but a big thump on the noggin to young women everywhere. poor writing style, weak plot, simple spelling and grammar mistakes and abuse aside, it was a morbid curiosity that turned into facinasion as to why there is so much fandom surrounding this throwback to a more puritanical and, lets face it, subservient time. the Twilight Saga attacks girls insecurities (Bella is so eager to die to be with her boyfriend forever. she would rather put herself in danger just to hear the b/f's voice in her head than get over him), introduces a supposedly smart, mature and progressive heroine to a Madonna/Whore complex imposing, obsessive and sometimes overbearing Vampire (symbolicly vampires were mean to represent a person or situation that is domineering or draining)and glorifies sexual assault(best friend Jacob gets a little bit more that fresh).

there is a very naive and romantic side to me that wants to belive and love knows no bounds. but, the reality of love and romance in general is smaking me around and telling me "something is not right, here.".

glad i'm not alone.

Sal, since you are taking that feminism class, you might wanna read this.
